You might have noticed that over the summer we had a work party arranged to help clear the surroundings of the Scout Hut. We even had people come back and help do further clearing and maintenance which has been fantastic and made a huge difference to the premises. However, this effort created a huge amount of green waste which is obviously difficult for us to move. That’s where Ginkgo, a local business have stepped in to help. Below is a letter of thanks from our Group Chairman to Ginkgo Garden Services.
Here are our start dates for the coming term.
Beavers, Mon 8th Sep
Cubs, Tue 9th Sep
Scouts, Fri 12th Sep
Explorers*, Wed 10th Sep
*Confirmation on us opening an Explorer Unit will happen soon.
Our first parents working party got to work on Saturday July 19th. We had over ten adults helping out throughout the day and a lot of progress has been made. The grounds of the HQ are looking fantastic and the foundation has been set for making future improvements to our outside areas.
A huge thanks go to our new Chair for organising the party, and of course to everyone who turned up on the day to help out despite the weather.
Here are a few before and after photos.
We had a really great St George’s Day parade on the 27th April with a service run by an Explorer Unit and a parade along Ewell Road in Tolworth. We even managed to stay dry throughout. The best part of the event for Chessington however was in us winning the Bridger Family Trophy for the smartest Group on parade! Over 1200 children and adults took part from over 18 Groups in the District. All the Leaders are very proud of the excellent behaviour and smart appearance of all of our Cubs, Beavers and Scouts. Thank you!
On Sat 8th Dec the Scout group held their annual Xmas Tree Sale at Chessington Methodist Church. There was a great turnout from Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and parents. Altogether 23 trees were sold and a total of £192.50 was raised for the group by some budding young entrepreneurs.
We would like to thank all those that turned up to help out and also to say thank you to the Methodist church for letting us use the car park again this year.
