A Thank You to Ginkgo Garden Services

You might have noticed that over the summer we had a work party arranged to help clear the surroundings of the Scout Hut. We even had people come back and help do further clearing and maintenance which has been fantastic and made a huge difference to the premises. However, this effort created a huge amount of green waste which is obviously difficult for us to move. That’s where Ginkgo, a local business have stepped in to help. Below is a letter of thanks from our Group Chairman to Ginkgo Garden Services.

Ginkgo Letter of thanks – MV – 140825

1st Working Party clears the HQ exterior

Our first parents working party got to work on Saturday July 19th. We had over ten adults helping out throughout the day and a lot of progress has been made. The grounds of the HQ are looking fantastic and the foundation has been set for making future improvements to our outside areas.

A huge thanks go to our new Chair for organising the party, and of course to everyone who turned up on the day to help out despite the weather.

Here are a few before and after photos.

Which sections meet when in the District?

Every now and then we have a child who can’t move from Beavers to Cubs or Cubs to Scouts, due to the nights of the week we have our meetings. The information of what groups meet when is all available on the web, but I thought I’d try and bring it together for reference.

The details below are all correct as of July 2014 and include any Groups in the Royal Kingston District that I could easily find details for on their websites.

* also meet on Saturday mornings

Please note that the above table does not represent all groups in the Royal Kingston District, only the sections I could easily find information for on their websites. For a full list of groups please visit the Royal Kingston District website.

District X Camp

To celebrate 10 years since the formation of the Royal Kingston Scouts District the whole district participated in a camp at Polyapes. There were 600+ Beavers, Cubs and Scouts having a great time over two fun packed days and over 45 children from Chessington Scout Group went along.

Sky Academy

The Cubs had a great trip to Sky Studios over half term. We took part in Sky Academy where the Cubs were able to produce their own news show including filming, directing, presenting, acting and using some excellently equipped studios.

We also got to go on a tour of the studios and broadcasting floor. All in all a great visit!
